This is one verse of a hymn for the Royal Air Force, which is also given on the above map:
“O Ruler of the Earth and Sky
Be with our airmen when they fly
And keep them in thy loving care
Amid the perils of the air
O let our cry come unto Thee
For those who fly o’er land and sea.”
Do you have any pictures or information that includes an RAF pilot named Robert Wilson. I have very little information except that my father was in the RAF Coastal command and piloted a Sunderland Bomber. He survived the war and was killed in a plane crash in Kingston, Jamaica in 1953. My mother did not keep in touch with anyone including his family and I have no photos or records of his military service. I do know that they met in Pembroke Dock in 1945 and that he was assigned a desk job in Schrewsbury Shropshire while my mom was expecting me. I do know that at one point he had a Commanding Officer named Owen Roberts. I have tried to get copies of my father's military records but they came back and said my mom had to request them and in the meantime she passed away so I will have to try again but thought I would ask for any information that might be out there. Good day Tampa,
As a child of a former serviceman you are a 'Next of Kin' and would be able to apply to the MoD for your father's service record in your own right. This would seem to be your best course of action as it would tell you exactly where and when he was based suring his RAF career.

RAF: Requesting information from Service Records
When you are on that page click on the link that says: 'Application for Next of Kin or Enquirers with the consent of Next of Kin'. That will take you to the application form you need.
As it always seems to be for Government departments there is a fee payable (£30 at the time this is posted). If you do not have your Dad's service number, so long as you have his date of birth and other details they should be able to identify the correct Robert Wilson. I rstand it also seems to take several months before receiving the information.
